Procedure
Reaction of 2-amino-4-hydroxymethylimidazole hydrochloride (which is obtained by treating the pierate salt with hydrochloric acid) with cysteamine hydrochloride and reaction of the resulting 2-amino-4-[(2-aminoethyl)thiomethyl]imidazole with 1-nitro-2,2-bis-methylthioethylene according to the procedure of Example 8(i) gives 1-nitro-2-methylthio-2-[2-((2-amino-4-imidazolyl)methylthio)ethylamino]ethylene. Finally, reaction with methylamine by the procedure of Example 8(ii)produces the title compound.
