A solution of tert-butyl 3-{[(5-{(1R)-4-cyclohexyl-1 -[2-(hydroxyamino)-2-oxoethyl]butyl}-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl)carbonyl]amino}-1-azetidinecarboxylate (Example 43) (160 mg, 0.33 mmol) in dichloromethane (10 ml) was cooled to 0° C. and treated with trifluoroacetic acid (7 ml) and the resulting mixture was stirred at 0° C. under a nitrogen atmosphere for 45 minutes. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure and the residue azeotroped from dichloromethane (×2).
