0.543 g (0.89 mmol) of 1-[p-(1,2,4-triazol-4-yl)phenyl]-4(S)-hydroxy-2-(tert-butyloxycarbonyl)amino-5(S)-[N-(N-methoxycarbonyl-(L)-valyl)amino]-6-phenyl-2-azahexane (Example 14f) is stirred in 20 ml of formic acid at RT for 4 h under nitrogen. The formic acid is removed, the residue is taken up in methylene chloride, and the organic phase is washed with a sat. solution of sodium bicarbonate. The title compound is isolated as a yellow foam, which is subjected to further processing without being purified.
