Procedure
2,3-Dicyano-5-chloro-6-benzylpyrazine (1.27 g; 0.005 mole) was dissolved in 30 ml of benzene, and the solution was cooled to 5° to 10° C. With stirring, the mixture was worked up in the same way as in Example 13 using 0.80 g (0.01 mole) of diethylamine. Recrystallization from ethanol afforded 1.10 g (yield 75%) of 2,3-dicyano-5-diethylamino-6-benzylpyrazine.
