Procedure
1-(2-Chlorobenzyl)-2-glycolyl-hydrazine is prepared by reducing 2-chlorobenzaldehyde glycolylhydrazone (41.5 g), dissolved in dioxane (415 cc), with hydrogen in the presence of palladium on charcoal in an autoclave, under hydrogen at a pressure of 15 kg/cm2, at a temperature of between 20° and 60° C. After filtration and concentration, 2-hydroxymethyl-4-(2-chlorobenzyl)-1,3,4-oxadiazolin-5-one (38 g) is obtained.
