Reaction Steps

Diphenylcyanocarbonimidate (9.53 g) and methanol (150 ml) were cooled to 0° C. and hydrazine (1.5 ml) was gradually added dropwise thereto. The mixture was stirred at 0° C.-room temperature for 2 hours. Methanol was distilled away under reduced pressure and the residue was subjected to silica gel column chromatography (chloroform-methanol) to quantitatively give white crystals.
