Reaction Steps

To a solution of (4-methylthien-3-yl)-1-trityl-imidazol-4-yl-methanol, B2, (6.5 g, 14.9 mmol) in 100 mL of CH2Cl2 was added MnO2 (13 g). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 hr and then filtered through Dicalite and the solvent was evaporated in vacuo to give (4-methylthien-3-yl)-1-trityl-imidazol-4-yl-methanone, A3. 1H NMR (CDCl3) supported the assigned structure. ##STR41##
