Procedure
In a round bottom flask, there are introduced 420 mg (1.15 mmole) of the ester obtained in Example 11 (b) and 25 ml of THF. There are then introduced, by portions, 110 mg (2.88 mmoles) of the double lithium and aluminum hydride. The mixture is stirred for 8 hours at ambient temperature. The reaction medium is hydrolyzed with hydrated sodium sulfate. The resulting precipitate is filtered and the filtrate is evaporated. 350 mg (93%) of the expected alcohol whose melting point is 171°-172° C. are obtained.
