Procedure
Once the pyrimidinedione ring (VIII) is formed, additional substituents may be optionally added. For example, a chlorine moiety is added to the 3-(2-chloro-6-fluorobenzothiazol-7-yl)-1-methyl-6-trifluoromethyl-2,4-(1H,3H)-pyrimidinedione molecule by treating it with N-chlorosuccinimide under acidic conditions, affording 3-(2-chloro-6-fluorobenzothiazol-7-yl)-1-methyl-5-chloro-6-trifluoromethyl-2,4-(1H,3H)-pyrimidinedione (IX). Example 8 provides the detailed procedure for this method. ##STR3##
