1.79 g (0.0093 mol) of 1-benzyl-4-hydroxypiperidine and 2.3 ml (0.0164 mol) of triethylamine were dissolved in 70 ml of toluene and treated with 1.63 g (0.00745 mol) of 2-bromo-benzoyl chloride. The mixture was boiled at reflux for 6 hrs., the precipitate was filtered off and the filtrate was concentrated. The residue was chromatographed over silica gel with ethyl acetate/hexane (1:2). 1.71 g (61%) of 1-benzyl-piperidin-4-yl 2-bromo-benzoate were obtained as yellowish crystals; m.p. 69°-70°.
