5-Chloro-5,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinoline from step 2 above was oxidized using the procedure as given in step 3 of Example 3. 5-Chloro 5,6,7,8-tetrahydroquinoline-N-oxide was obtained as a white solid (TLC Rf = 0.24 (97:3 CH2Cl2 : MeOH)).
