Procedure
To Compound c (7.84 g, 20.1 mmol) were added 100 ml of dioxane and 100 ml of 2N aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, followed by heating under reflux for 10 minutes. After cooling, the mixture was neutralized, and deposited crystals were collected by filtration and recrystallized from dioxane-water to give 6.83 g (yield: 91%) of Compound 5 as white crystals.
