A mixture of 3-benzyl-6-bromo-2-(1-{[2-(dimethylamino)-ethyl]amino}propyl)furo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4(3H)-one (1-5, 1 equiv) and 10% Pd/C in ethanol is hydrogenated at 1 atm. for 3 h. The mixture is filtered and the filtrate is concentrated to provide 3-benzyl-2-(1-{[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]amino}propyl)-furo[2,3-d]pyrimidin4(3H)-one (1-6)
