Procedure

Lithium aluminium hydride (5.62 g; 148 mmol) is suspended in 50 ml of anhydrous tetrahydrofuran. A solution of the compound obtained in Step F (11.9 g; 37 mmol), dissolved beforehand in 50 ml of anhydrous tetrahydrofuran, is then added dropwise. The reaction mixture is then stirred at ambient temperature for 2 hours. A minimum of sodium hydroxide solution (2N NaOH) is added to the reaction mixture until the evolution of gas has ceased in order to form the precipitates of lithium and aluminium hydroxides. The precipitates are then filtered off and washed with tetrahydrofuran. The organic phase is evaporated under reduced pressure. The title compound is purified by chromatography on silica gel.
