Procedure

To a solution of (S)-[2-(3-bromo-phenyl)-1-hydroxymethyl-ethyl]-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (400 mg, 1.21 mmol) in methanol (30 mL) was added 4 M HCl in dioxane (2 mL, excess). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 14 h. After concentration in vacuo, the residue was used for the next step without purification. LCMS (M+H)+ m/z 230 (t=0.78 min.)
