6-Bromo-1-(4-dimethylsulfamoyl-benzyl)-2-oxo-1,2-dihydro-indole-3,3-dicarboxylic acid di-tert-butyl ester (10.0 g, 16.4 mmol) was dissolved in 50 ml of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) under an atmosphere of dry N2 and stirred overnight at ambient temperature. The reaction mixture was then concentrated under vacuum and partitioned between DCM and saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3). The DCM layer was then dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated under vacuum to give 6.05 g of the titled compound as a white solid.
