Procedure

1.19 g of N-iodosuccinimide was added to a mixture of 1.16 g of 2-benzyl-3-bromo-6-hydroxypyridine (Production Example 3-b) and 10 ml of N,N-dimethylformamide at room temperature, followed by stirring at the same temperature overnight. 50 ml of water was added to the reaction solution and the resulting crystals were collected by filtration, washed with water and then vacuum-dried, to give 1.47 g of the target compound.
