Procedure

The above pyrrolopyrimidine (1.3) (2.14 g, 7.5 mmol) was suspended in 20 ml methanol and 0.880 ammonia (10 ml) added and the solution stirred at 40° C. overnight. The solvent was removed and the product suspended in methanol and filtered to give a pale yellow solid. Yield 0.71 g. A further 1.05 g was isolated by concentration of the mother liquors. Overall yield 1.76 g, 96%. δH 2.52 (3H, s, SCH3), 2.91 (2H, t, J 7.1 Hz, OCH2CH2), 3.65 (2H, t, J 6.9 Hz, OCH2), 4.68 (1H, t, OH), 7.27 (1H, s, H6), 12.12 (1H, s, NH) ppm.
