To a solution of methyl (2S,4S)-1-Boc-4-azidopyrrolidine-2-carboxylate (10 g, 37 mmol) prepared in Step D of Preparation Example A1-1 in methanol (100 ml) and water (100 ml) was added LiOH (2.5 g, 111 mmol). The solution was stirred at rt for 3 h, concentrated in vacuo, acidified with 1N HCl, and extracted with EtOAC. The organic extracts were washed with brine, dried over MgSO4, and concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound (9.5 g, 95%).
