Procedure
A solution of methyl-(3-propyl-benzofuran-2-ylmethyl)amine (1.10 g, 5.41 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (40 mL) was treated with acryloyl chloride (0.45 mL, 5.68 mmol) and triethylamine (1.5 mL, 10.8 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The solution was washed with water and brine, dried (Na2SO4), filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the title compound (1.46 g, 99%) as a yellow solid: 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 7.59 (d, J=5.4 Hz, 1H), 7.49 (d, J=7.5 Hz, 1H), 7.28-7.15 (m, 2H), 6.89-6.70 (m, 1H), 6.20 (t, J=2.4 Hz, 1H), 5.75 (t, J=4.5 Hz, 1H), 4.83-4.71 (m, 2H), 3.33-3.07 (m, 2H), 2.87-2.67 (m, 3H), 1.65-1.58 (m, 2H), 0.95-0.88 (m, 3H); ESI MS m/z 258 (M+H)+.
