Procedure
As an alternative for the preparation of this compound, a mixture of 4-[[4-chloro-6-[(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)amino]-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl]amino]benzonitrile (0.0230 mol) in NH3 in 2-propanol (2.0 M; 60 ml) and NH3 in 1,4-dioxane (0.5 M; 20 ml) was heated at 95° C. for 21 hours. The solvent was evaporated. The residue was dissolved in ethyl acetate, washed with 1 N NaOH, water and brine, dried, filtered and the filtrate was evaporated. The residue was recrystallized with acetonitrile, yielding 5.25 g (66.1%) of 4-[[4-amino-6-[(2,4,6-trimethylphenyl)amino]-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl]amino]benzonitrile.
