The reaction was then heated to reflux until judged complete by HPLC (45 min): The reaction was concentrated and crystallized from EtOH to obtain 23. 1H (CDCl3, 400 MHz): δ 11.67 (1H, broad s), 7.06 (2H, d, J=8.3 Hz), 6.78 (2H, d, J=8.3 Hz), 6.57 (1H, s), 4.30 (2H, q, J=7.0 Hz), 3.76 (3H, s), 2.98 (2H, t, J=7.7 Hz), 2.88 (2H, t, J=7.7 Hz), 1.30 (3H, t, J=7.1 Hz) ppm. 13C (CDCl3, 100 MHz): δ 162.20, 158.13, 147.05, 141.79, 132.94, 129.42, 113.98, 106.61, 61.02, 55.36, 34.65, 28.23, 14.37 ppm. DEPT (CDCl3, 100 MHz): CH3 carbons: 55.36, 14.37; CH2 carbons: 61.02, 34.65, 28.23; CH carbons: 129.42, 113.98, 106.61 ppm. HPLC: 9.200 min.
