Procedure
1M Lithium aluminium hydride in THF (18.1 ml, 18.1 mmol) was added dropwise over 5 min. to a stirred, ice cooled solution of 2-Amino-N,N-dimethyl-3-nitro-benzamide, D14 (1.26 g, 6.03 mmol) in anhydrous THF (40 ml) under argon. The reaction mixture was stirred at 0° C. for 0.5 h then at room temperature for a further 2 h before being recooled in ice, as water (3.2 ml), 2N sodium hydroxide (3.6 ml) and water (3.2 ml) were added dropwise sequentially. The mixture was stirred for 10 min, solid Na2SO4 added and stirring continued for 10 min. Solids were filtered, washed with ethyl acetate and the combined organics evaporated in vacuo to give the title compound as an orange solid (0.9 g, 91%).
