Procedure
A mixture of 2-(4-chloro-6-fluoro-3-methoxy-2-nitrophenyl)-5-trifluoromethylpyridazin-3-one (0.52 g) and iron powder (0.4 g) in acetic acid (30 ml) was stirred overnight at ambient temperature. The reaction solution was poured into water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic phase was washed with brine (×3) and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The solvent was removed to give the title compound (0.46 g). 1H NMR (CDCl3, 300 MHz) 3.88 (3H, s), 4.19 (2H, br s), 6.67 (1H, d, J=9.6 Hz), 7.31 (1H, m), 8.10 (1H, d, J=2.2 Hz) ppm.
