1-(6-Benzyloxynaphthalen-2-yl)-1-(1-trityl-1H-imidazol-4-yl)-2-methyl-1-propanol (2.4 g) was dissolved in a mixed solution of THF and methanol (1:1, 160 ml). To the solution was added 10% palladium carbon (0.8 g). The mixture was stirred for 5 h under hydrogen atmosphere. The catalyst was filtered off, and filtrate was concentrated. The residue was crystallized from THF-ethyl acetate to give the titled compound (1.20 g) as a colorless powder.
