Procedure

The sub-title compound was prepared according to the method described in Example 1(ii) above from 4-hydroxy-6-methoxychroman-4-yl-carboxylic acid, methyl ester (1.09 g; 4.58 mmol; from step (i) above) and LiOH.H2O (0.39 g; 9.2 mmol). Yield 0.71 g (69%).
