Procedure
A solution of 1.41 g (6.7 mmol) of 7-vinyl-1,2,3,5-tetrahydrocyclopenta[c]-quinolin-4-one in 200 ml of chloroform is mixed at room temperature with mCPBA. After 15 hours at room temperature, the batch is washed with saturated Na2SO3 (2×100 ml), dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated by evaporation in a vacuum. Column chromatography on silica gel with hexane-ethyl acetate yields 0.59 g of product.
