The title compound was prepared from 3-bromo-5-chloro-2-pyridinamine and 3-cyanostyrene. Methylene chloride extracts of the crude reaction mixture were concentrated and the desired product purified by column chromatography on silica gel eluting with methylene chloride—methanol (98:2) to give a yellow solid:
