Following protocol L, to the solution of 3-trifluoromethyl-5-isopropyl-pyrazole (0.22 g, 1.23 mmol) in CH3CN (10 mL) was added NCS (0.19 g, 1.43 mmol) in portions with vigorous stirring. The reaction mixture was then heated under reflux for 14 h, cooled and the reaction quenched with saturated NaHCO3, extracted with methylene chloride (2×30 mL) and the combined organic extracts was washed with brine, dried with Na2SO4 and evaporated to give the title compound as a white solid.
