Procedure
1.52 g of glutaric anhydride and then 2.62 g of pyrrolidinocarbonylmethylpiperazine are added to 10 cm3 of dry didoxane. After stirring for 4 hours, the precipitate formed is diluted with 10 cm3 of dioxane and then stirred for 1 hour. The insoluble matter is filtered on No. 4 sintered glass, rinsed several times with diethyl ether and then dried (90 Pa) at 20° C. to give 3.36 g of 5-oxo-5-[4-(2-oxo-2-pyrrolidin-1-yl ethyl)piperazin-1-yl]pentanoic acid in the form of a white solid.
