Procedure
n-BuLi (1.6 M in 0.2 mL hexane) is added dropwise to a solution of 200 mg of benzo[1,3]dioxol-5-ylmethyl-(1-butyl-2-iodo-4-phenyl-3H-imidazol-5-ylmethyl)-(3ethoxy-benzyl)-amine (prepared by the procedure set forth in the preceding example) at −78° C. under N2. The resulting mixture is stirred at −78° C. A solution of benzylsulfonyl cyanide (63 mg) in 5 mL THF is added and the resulting mixture is stirred at −78° C. for 2 hours, then warmed to room temperature and stirred overnight. The reaction is quenched with 5.0 mL water, extracted with ethyl acetate, and dried over Na2SO4. Concentration and purification via flash chromatography provides the desired product (Compound 5).
