Procedure

A solution of 0.14 g (0.28 mmol) of 2-[[4-[3-(tert-butoxycarbonyl amino)pyrrolidin-1-yl]phenyl]amino]-8-cyclopentyl-8H-pteridin-7-one (from example 23) in 10 mL CH2Cl2 is treated with 1 mL of trifluoroacetic acid, and the resulting mixture is stirred at room temperature for 3 hours. After removal of the solvent, the residue is triturated with aqueous ammonia to give 0.11 g (100%) of the title compound (Compound 17): mp (MeOH(aq)) 197–200° C.
