To 4-[2-Amino-1-(2-chloro-phenyl)-ethyl]-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (201) (0.75 g, 2.21 mmol) in pyridine (5 mL) was added Ac2O (5 mL). The reaction was allowed to stir at 60° C. for 1 h and then allowed to cool to room temperature. The reaction mixture was diluted with EtOAc (100 mL) and washed with sat. NaHCO3 (100 mL)), H2O (100 mL) and brine (100 mL). The organic phase was concentrated to dryness yielding 0.85 g (99%) product.
