Procedure
To 4-[1-(2,4-Difluoro-phenyl)-2-methoxycarbonylamino-ethyl]-piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (420) (0.225 g, 0.564 mmol) in MeCl2 (2.0 mL) was added TFA (2.0 mL). The reaction was allowed to stir at room temperature for 1 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated to dryness. The resulting residue was taken up in 1N HCl (30 mL) and washed with EtOAc (30 mL). The aqueous layer was made alkaline with 5N NaOH (10 mL) and the desired product was extracted into EtOAc. The organic phase was concentrated to dryness yielding 0.14 g (83%) pure product.
