Procedure

A mixed solution of (+)-2-butoxy-3,3,3-trifluoropropionic acid (1.2 g) obtained in Example 6, ethanol (40 ml) and p-toluenesulfonic acid monohydrate (0.1 g) was heated with stirring for 12 hours, followed by distilling off the solvent under normal pressure, extracting the residue with ether, neutralizing, washing with water and concentrating to obtain (+)-ethyl 2-butoxy-3,3,3-trifluoropropionate (0.9 g). [α] +24.1 (cl. 06, CHCl3).
