3.3 g (10 mmol) of 3-(5-chloromethyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl)-5,6-dihydro-5-methyl-4H-imidazo[1,5-a][1,4]benzodiazepin-6-one were stirred with 5.06 g (50 mmol) of dipropylamine in 20 ml of N,N-dimethylformamide at room temperature for 4 hours. The reaction mixture was evaporated and the residue was chromatographed on silica gel while eluting with ethyl acetate. There were obtained 3.65 g (92%) of 3-(5-dipropylaminomethyl-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl)-5-methyl-5,6-dihydro-4H-imidazo[1,5-a][1,4]benzodiazepin-6-one of melting point 130°-132°, which was converted into the hydrochloride of m.p. 213°-215°.
