Procedure
An excess of diazomethane in diethylether at 0° is added to 3.91 g of 2-ethynylnicotinic acid ethyl ester and the solution allowed to warm to RT and let stand overnight. Acetic acid is added until no further gas evolves and the mixture is extracted with brine, dried over MgSO4, filtered and the solvent removed by evaporation under vacuum to yield the title compound as an oil.
