Procedure

One gram (3.0 mmol) of 5-amino-2-(2'-methoxy-4'-methanesulfonyloxy-phenyl)-benzimidazole was dissolved in 30 ml of pure tetrahydrofuran, 2.0 ml of methylisocyanate were added, and the mixture was refluxed. After 15 minutes that solvent and any excess methylisocyanate were evaporated off in vacuo, and the residue obtained was chromatographed over 250 gm of aluminium oxide (neutral) (eluant: methylene chloride with 4% ethanol).

Workup

  1. temperaturethe mixture was refluxed
  2. customany excess methylisocyanate were evaporated off in vacuo
  3. customthe residue obtained
  4. customwas chromatographed over 250 gm of aluminium oxide (neutral) (eluant: methylene chloride with 4% ethanol)
