4-Amino-1-(naphth-2-ylmethyl)piperidine (1.0 g, 0.0042 m) and benzoyl cyanamide (0.67 g, 0.0042 m) in toluene (100 cm3) were refluxed for 15 hours. The solvent was evaporated and the residue recrystallised from the minimum amount of isopropyl alcohol and recrystallised twice more from ethanol to give 0.65 g of the title compound, m.p. dihydrochloride quarter hydrate, m.p. 260°-262° C.
