Procedure
To a stirred solution of 5-bromo-3-cyano-1-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifiluoromethylphenyl)-4-trimethylsilylethynylpyrazole (100 mg, the compound of Example C1) in methanol (1 ml) was added potassium carbonate (2.9 mg). Stirring was continued at room temperature for 2 hours and then potassium carbonate (3.0 mg) was added. Stirring was continued for a further 4 hours. The reaction mixture was then poured into ether (10 ml) and water (10 ml). The organic layer was separated, dried (MgSO4) and evaporated to provide the title compound as a white solid m.p. 198° C. (decomp.).
