Procedure

In 50 ml of methylene chloride was dissolved 4.10 g (12.6 mmol) of ethyl 6-t-butoxycarbonyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydrothiazolo[5,4-c]pyridin-2-acetate, and under ice-cooling, 10 ml of CF3CO2H was added to the residue and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours.
