Procedure
A solution of 4-Hydroxy-2-(4-ethoxyphenyl)-imidazo[1,5,a]-quinoxaline-1,3(2H,5H)-dione (3.2 g) in phosphorous oxychloride (40 mL) was refluxed for 16 h. The solvent was removed in vacuo and water (15 mL) was added. The pH was adjusted to 7.0 using ammonium hydroxide and this resulting solid was filtered and dried to yield 4-Chloro-2-(4-ethoxyphenyl)-imidazo[1,5,a]quinoxaline-1,3(2H,5H)-dione (Compound 36).
