2-(4-Ethoxyphenyl)-imidazo[1,5,a]quinoxaline-1,3(2H,5H)-dione (100 mg) was added to a solution of dimethylformamide dimethylacetal (10 ml,) and DMF (5 mL), and the reaction mixture was heated to 100° C. for 4 h. The solution was cooled to room temperature and poured onto water (200 mL). The resulting precipitate was collected and dried to yield 5-N-Methyl-2-(4-ethoxyphenyl)-imidazo[1,5,a]quinoxaline-1,3(2H,5H)-dione (Compound 42). m.p. 263-266° C.
