In methanol (8 ml) was dissolved ethyl 7-morpholino-2.3-dihydro-1-benzoxepine-4-carboxylate (800 mg, 2.64 mmol), and to the mixture was added 1N sodium hydroxide solution (8 ml). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 12 hours, and to the mixture was added 1N hydrochloric acid (8 ml). The organic solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure, and the precipitated insoluble materials were filtered. Which were washed with water and duisopropylether and dried under reduced pressure to give 7-morpholino-2,3-dihydro-1-benzoxepine-4-carboxylic acid (649 mg, 2.36 mmol, 89%).
