Procedure

16.6 g of 6-cyclohexyl-2-methylenehexanoic acid ethyl ester, in the form of a nearly colourless oil, which is purified by chromatography on silica gel (migrating agent: 80:20 petroleum ether/ethyl acetate), are obtained by the procedure described in Example (1b) from 26 g of (4-cyclohexylbutyl)-malonic acid ethyl ester, 3.1 g of paraformaldehyde, 19 ml of pyridine and 1.2 ml of piperidine.
