Reaction Steps
A mixture of 3.62 g. of 2-fluoro-4-(hexadecylamino)-benzoic acid and 25 ml of ethanol-water (9:1) containing 0.400 g of sodium hydroxide is stirred for 4 hours. The mixture is filtered and the residue washed with 10 ml of ethanol-water (9:1) and dried, in vacuo, over P2O5 for 24 hours to yield sodium 2-fluoro-4-(hexadecylamino)benzoate as a white solid.
