Procedure

Following the procedure of Example 1, the m-phenoxybenzyl ester of α-bromoisovaleric acid is reacted with 3,4-methylenedioxyaniline (3equivalents) at about 75° for about 14 hours to yield the m-phenoxybenzyl ester of N-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)valine, MS m/e 419 (M+, 13.2), 192 (100).
