A solution of 5-acetyl-2-fluorobenzenesulphonamide (6.5 g), diethylamine (7.0 ml) and absolute ethanol (200 ml) was heated under reflux for 22 hours. The solution was concentrated to a gum under reduced pressure and partitioned between ethyl acetate (100 ml) and water (120 ml). The organic phase was separated and evaporated to dryness. Trituration of the residue with aqueous isopropanol gave the diethylamine compound as cream crystals, 5.9 g, m.p. 103°-105°.
