Procedure

The (+/−)-tert-butyl (3R,4R)-3-[(1,1′-biphenyl-4-ylcarbonyl)oxy]-4-(3-{[tert-butyl(dimethyl)silyl]oxy}phenyl)piperidine-1-carboxylate (91 mg, 0.16 mmol) was dissolved in 4 N Hydrogen chloride in dioxanes (3.0 mL). The solution was stirred for 4 H at room temperature and diethylether (10 mL) was added. The solution was kept at room temperature for 16 H and solids formed. The (+/−)-(3R,4R)-4-(3-hydroxyphenyl)piperidin-3-yl 1,1′-biphenyl-4-carboxylate hydrochloride (56 mg, 0.13 mmol) was obtained as a white solid. HRMS m/z 374.1753 (calcd for M+H 374.1751.)
