Procedure
To a solution of Example 55A (4.8 g, 11.3 mmol) in anhydrous methanol (10 mL) a solution of 4 M HCl in dioxane (22.5 mL, 90 mmol) was slowly added via addition funnel at 0° C. over 30 minutes. The mixture was stirred for 4 hours at room temperature and concentrated under reduced pressure to provide a yellow oil. The oil was dissolved in water, frozen, and lyophilized to provide a white power as the titled product. MS (ESI) m/e 327 (M+H)+, 325 (M−H)−; 1H NMR (500 MHz, CD3OD) δ ppm 1.80 (m, 1H), 2.74 (m, 1H), 2.84 (m, 1H), 3.09 (m, 1H), 3.16 (t, 1H), 3.24 (m, 1H), 3.52 (dd, 2H), 3.55 (m, 1H), 3.74 (m, 1H), 3.88 (m, 1H), 4.51 (m, 1H), 4.65 (d, 1H), 4.70 (d, 1H), 8.33 (s, 1H) 9.11 (s, 1H).
